Chapter 7 Gateway

Telemetry PCM, Video and Ethernet Multiplexer

Chapter 7 Gateway — Data Acquisition Units

Details

The Chapter 7 Gateway connects modern packet-based flight-test instrumentation with established PCM telemetry infrastructure. Safran documentation describes a gateway that can merge several PCM outputs, video channels and Ethernet data streams into one standard PCM telemetry channel. That combined stream can then be carried by a conventional telemetry transmitter across commonly used L, S or C bands and with established modulation schemes. The approach supports incremental migration toward Ethernet-based acquisition without requiring the entire air-to-ground chain to be replaced at once. Chapter 7 encoding and decoding also provide a standards-based method for moving packet data through traditional telemetry links.

Key capabilities

  • Multiplexes PCM, video and Ethernet data into one PCM telemetry stream
  • Supports IRIG 106 Chapter 7 packet transport
  • Works with conventional telemetry transmitters
  • Applicable across typical L, S and C telemetry bands
  • Bridges legacy PCM and Ethernet-based flight-test architectures

Typical applications

Airborne flight-test instrumentation and telemetry-system modernization where existing PCM transmission infrastructure must be retained.

Verified specifications

  • Data types: PCM, video and Ethernet
