Polarization-Maintaining Gyro Fibers
Overview
Exail IXF-PMG fibers are high-performance polarization-maintaining fibers designed for fiber-optic gyroscopes operating on or above the Earth. They combine high polarization extinction, low attenuation and environmental stability, and their tight coating-diameter consistency supports uniform coil winding with minimal signal artifacts.
Key features
- Round core, zero twist, highly birefringent construction
- Tight coating-diameter consistency for uniform coil geometry
- Qualified by international inertial sensing manufacturers
- High polarization extinction ratio over long fiber lengths
Specifications
- Designs: Panda and Tiger, with space-grade options
- Cladding diameters: 40, 60, 80 and 125 micrometers (others on request)
- Coating diameters: tuned to customer specifications
Applications
- Fiber-optic gyroscopes (FOG)
- Fiber-optic current sensors (FOCS)
- Optical delay lines and small form factor PM components
- Aerospace, defense and high-end industrial navigation
